Our Story
It was a still winter-clad February in New York City when we had our first date. From the moment James saw Jenny walk through the doors of Rosa Mexicano — a swanky restaurant at Lincoln Center — he knew there was something special about her. It was a spark, felt by both of us, casting aside the growing doubt that Manhattan had nothing to offer in the serious romance department. In a city of this size, people stacked on top of one another, it can feel surprisingly isolating, so both of us quickly realized how rare it was to meet that “special someone.”
We still consider Lincoln Center to be that “magic” location, a place we can go to reminisce over our first romantic feelings towards each other. So, it should come as no surprise that James selected Lincoln Center’s iconic fountain for the place where he would propose he and Jenny spend the rest of their lives together. Following a performance of Jewels by the New York City Ballet, James brought Jenny to the fountain and revealed an engagement ring.
Our stories have quickly become one as we are now sharing our lives with an energetic puppy, Liza, and enjoying all that New York City has to offer two culturally obsessed individuals. An equally shared love of Broadway plays a big part of our time in the city. And we’ve already created beautiful memories together on trips to London and our hometowns of Colorado Springs and Los Angeles.
There are occasionally moments of sappiness — both of us are rather emotional people — and plenty of silliness, but no matter the mood, James and Jenny are positive that they’ve found lifelong partners in one another. Looking ahead to our wedding, we find ourselves overwhelmed with excitement and intrigue over the years ahead.
